Hello everyone, today we will talk about Rijeka Carnival.
Rijeka is a coastal city in Croatia, located on the northern part of the Adriatic Sea, approximately 150 kilometers from the capital Zagreb.
Rijeka and its surroundings have a little less than 200 thousand inhabitants, but it has beautiful beaches and is home to one of the biggest carnivals in the world – the Rijeka Carnival.
The Rijeka Carnival is a big festival that takes place every year in February or March.
The Rijeka region is known for its carnival tradition.
The Rijeka Carnival takes place on weekends.
One weekend there is a children’s parade which is not so popular but still worth visiting and the main international parade which attracts more than 10 thousand masquerades from all over the world.
People come from Germany, Austria, Slovenia, USA, India and many others.
Every year, the carnival attracts more than 150,000 visitors who enjoy the great festival that takes place on the streets of Rijeka all day long.
As I said, the Rijeka carnival is one of the largest in the world, to be more precise, the Rijeka carnival is the 3rd largest in the world.
Right after the world famous carnival in Rio de Janeiro and the one in Venice.

We call the entire carnival season, which lasts more than a month in Rijeka, the fifth season, during which many different concerts and numerous other activities are held in the city center as well as in its surroundings.
The Rijeka Carnival will definitely delight anyone who decides to visit it.
