It’s the first month of the new year. Have you made any plans for what you want to do in 2021? Here are 10 health-related things for you to maybe challenge yourself with in 2021!
1) Eat 5 different fruits/vegetables in a day
These days, we spend a lot of time at home, and I believe that we all snack more often; (but don’t feel guilty about having some ‘unhealthy’ snacks from time to time). Try to switch some portions of your snacks to fruits or veggies, so you can consume more fruits and vegetables without having to force yourself.
2) Exercise
Spend a quick 30 mins every day. Just search online or on YouTube, you’ll find plenty of videos that teach you how to exercise at home. You don’t need fancy equipment, all you need is just determination. The point is to get yourself moving, so stop giving yourself excuses.
3) Try meditation and/or yoga
Meditation and yoga are more like a workout for your mind. Personally, I enjoy doing yoga, and I would really recommend you to give it a try – Yoga helped me to relax and reduce my stress. A shout out to a really nice teacher @yogabrum who taught us last year at yoga society.
4) Take care of your mental health
It is critical that we all understand the importance of mental health and wellbeing; Your mental health is equally as important as your physical health. Please don’t feel embarrassed, and do not hesitate to ask for help if you need advice or support!
5) Turn off all electronics for a night
Try to spend a night without your phone, computer, TV … Focus on the people beside you, do a game night, talk to your family or friends, anything that doesn’t involve electronics.
6) Listen to your favourite music
Music is healing, especially the music that you like. Are you are tired, stressed or anxious? One of the best ways to improve your emotional health is by listening to music.
7) Make someone (or yourself) laugh
When was the last time you laughed out loud, like when you were small? Tell a joke or watch a comedy movie. Laughter not only helps you to relax, but it can also burn calories!
8) Call someone you haven’t seen for a while
Under the current situation, we can’t see our love ones that often like we used to, but thanks to technology, we can now call anyone we want just by clicking a button. Call someone that you miss, your grandparents, your friends…
9) Write down 3 things you’re grateful for
With all the things happening, it’s easy that we focus on the negative. Write down three things you’re grateful for before going to bed. It doesn’t have to be something big or special; this is to remind us to be thankful for everything we have.
10) Try something new
Try a new recipe, try some foods from other cultures, learn a new language (check out my blog last week here if you haven’t). Try something that’s out of your comfort zone!
See you next week!
